How do I know which wall plugs are best for my wall?

The first step is to identify the wall material. If it sounds hollow when you tap on it, it's probably hollow brick or plasterboard; in that case, you'll need universal anchors that lock into place or specific toggle bolts. If the sound is dry and hard, it's solid material, where standard expansion anchors work perfectly. For very heavy loads on solid supports, switch directly to metal or chemical anchors for concrete.

When should I use chemical fixation instead of mechanical fixation?

Chemical anchoring (the well-known chemical anchor) is your best ally when the surface is old, slightly deteriorated, or when you need to anchor very close to the edge of the wall. Unlike mechanical anchors for concrete, chemical anchors do not exert expansion pressure, so there is no risk of cracking the brick or concrete. They are ideal for threaded rods and heavy loads.

Are plastic cable ties suitable for outdoor use?

Not all of them. Standard cable ties (white or natural) tend to crystallize and break when exposed to sunlight for extended periods. If you're going to secure cables or netting on a patio or in a garden, look in our fixing accessories section for black cable ties or those specifically designed with UV resistance, which are made of special polyamide to withstand the elements.

What is the difference between clamping tools and fastening tools?

Although they sound similar, they have different purposes. Clamping tools (like clamps or vises) are used to temporarily immobilize pieces while you work on them. On the other hand, fastening tools are those that make the final connection, such as screwdrivers, nailers, or glue guns. Both are necessary for a good finish.

Can I use wood screws on metal or vice versa?

We absolutely do not recommend it. Wood screws have a wider thread pitch and a sharp point to penetrate the wood fibers. Metal screws have a much finer thread pitch and are usually made of harder steel to penetrate sheet metal. Using the wrong type will greatly weaken the fastening and could damage the materials.
