Description
First of all, diseased or dead branches should be pruned at least once a year. To prune healthy branches, you should better wait until they are ripe or even better in the resting phase, i.e. in late autumn or winter - but not in frost. Additionally, many home gardeners are overly cautious in pruning the tree.
But orderly cutting is important for flourishing growth: about a third can be removed without fear - the fruit shoots even halfway.
